Yesterday afternoon I had finally exhausted all my procrastination tricks and was forced to settled down to Easter dinner planning.

| My table never has & never will look so very elegant, but let's pretend for just a moment. |
I don't know why I was so reluctant to get down to business, I normally LOVE planning a big day of eating - maybe the cascading piles of paper that have suddenly overwhelmed my little desk & the ever-growing (and never-shrinking) lists had something to do with it.
I flipped thru the pages of my recipe binders (yes, there's more than one), a few go-to cookbooks and surfed a bit before finally settling on . . .
Once I put the final item on the grocery list last night, I poured myself a big ol' glass of vino!
This morning I dashed out the door, trying in vain to beat the Easter masses. Stops at the local grocery store, Trader Joe's and Whole Foods, then it was time to get to work.
Unload the bags, reorganize the fridge (to fit everything), and start baking & prepping.
Then the mail carrier delivered this . . .
Cruses! My much anticipated copy Confessions of a Scary Mommy finally arrived and my day's agenda was jammed.
Bake the bundt, make lemon glaze, snap & cut asparagus, chop onion & shallot, make peach glaze, clean & quarter strawberries, make vinaigrette . . . phew!
All I wanted to do was curl up with my new book!
But wait . . . there was still a dishwasher to unload, a sink full of dishes to load in and a pile of pots and bowls to wash.
Finally, it was time to take a few minutes for Mommy!
"Mommy, when are we going to color the Easter eggs?" the Baron & Master demanded.
Damn it! Isn't that the Bunny's job!
Easter egg coloring mess finally cleaned up . . . time to read!
That's when I discovered the Handsome Husband lounging on the couch reading MY BOOK!
What's a member of the Scary Mommy Nation to do!?
Why snatch that book right of his big ol' mitts and run, of course!
Think I can sneak away tomorrow afternoon to turn a few pages? Surely The Outlaws won't notice my absence!
If you're looking for an Easter diversion, check out the first two chapters of Confession of a Scary Mommy.
Happy Easter to all the hard-cookin' Mamas out there!
P.S. So excited for the Needham Bloggin' Mama's Wednesday field trip to visit with Scary Mommy, Jill Smokler, at the Burlington Barnes & Noble. Also looking forward to the post-book signing margaritas at the nearby Border Cafe. Wanna join us, Jill?

Ambitious Easter spread! Looks yummy. A Happy Easter to you too!
