Saturday was the first ever Blog Better Boston and this Housewife's first ever bloggers' conference.
The conference went off without a hitch (three cheers for Alana & Alex!) -- lots of eager bloggers, interesting & informative panel discussions & workshops, and lots of networking & card swapping.
It was inspiring, but a little disheartening, too. How do they do it all? So many ideas, so much more I want to do with this site . . . where's the Housewife gonna find some extra time? (Has someone set up a Time Shop on Etsy yet?)
I met numerous fascinating folks and I'm looking forward to getting to know their blogger alter egos.
While many have been feverishly typing & posting, and taking action on all those fab ideas, I am ashamed to admit that I have been a total slacker today.
A grey, drizzly Sunday seems the perfect excuse to curl up with the Baron & Master for a movie marathon. After all, yesterday I was gone before they woke, and they'd been asleep for hours when I dragged my weary self back thru the front door.

Of course, I'm telling myself I'm letting it all mull around in my mind, I'll make that action plan tomorrow, promise.
High point #1 . . .
Hanging with my new Needham Blogging Team pals -- Amanda (The Little Lily Pad), Emily (Random Recycling) and Nikki (our resident photog).

High point #2 . . .
When an uber stylish, perfectly polished & coiffed gal, balancing on 5" (maybe higher) heels paused mid-lipstick swipe, turned to me in the ladies room, and asked if I was a fashion blogger.
I was so relieved when I managed to squeak out a "Me, no, parenthood & lifestyle," while squelching what I'm sure would have sounded like some kind of maniacal cackle in the echoey powder room.
Unexpected side-benefit . . .
All-day conference got the Housewife out of three meal preps and dishes, laundry & assorted other household chores, so come Sunday morning Friday's manicure is still shiny & chip-free!

love this recap- and thanks for the shout-out! So happy to now be following! What a great day...still bummed no one mistook me for a fashion blogger! Oh, and I forgot to tell you I loved your nails, Amanda
ReplyDeleteLove to hear that you made new friends and enjoyed the conference!! Don't feel overwhelmed with trying to juggle your blogging and your everyday life. Remember that blogging is, at the end of the day, FUN!! Just make the changes you want to make, one at a time and it will get there :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic day of learning, laughing (mostly at myself), and inspiration. The fun began at pick up and lasted well beyond the conference. I cannot wait to put what I learned into practice for my baby-blog in development. Cheers to Blog Better Boston, to our incredible foursome, and to the many, many, many bloggers out there that I need to acquaint myself with through their amazing blogs and further networking. Nikki
ReplyDeleteI love the fashion blogger anecdote- too fun! Glad to see you enjoyed yourself :)
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear the conference went well. What was the most helpful tip you got there?
ReplyDeleteIf you figure out how those pro bloggers juggle everything, let me know!
Don't worry about finding time to do it all. No one can. We all just do what we can manage and try to work our time to fit a little more in every now and again. These conferences can be overwhelming from that aspect, I know! Hope you enjoyed the after party and the little green drink tickets! - Katy
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love those little green tickets!!
