Pigs-in-a-Crescent Revisited

The Fortuitous Housewife is feeling foodie retro tonight...

Doesn't this commercial take you back!

I'm embarassed to admit this pre-fab food delicacy became one of me & my younger brother's favorite dinners when we were kids. (Our poor foodie folks suffered in semi-silence. Yes, we heard you grumbling!)

Weeksworld's reinterpretation...

Johnsonville Turkey with Cheddar Sausage...a recent Weeksworld discovery.
Wrap those dawgs in a crescent triangle, plop 'em on an ungreased baking sheet and slide 'em in a pre-heated 375 oven for 12-15 mintues, until the dawg is hot & the roll is golden brown.

Shhh...please keep my secret! Martha would be horrified! And Christopher Kimball might revoke my Cook's Illustrated subscription.

Turkey-Cheddar Pigs-in-Crescent, with some sweet potato oven-fries and broccoli slaw, were a big hit with the boys!

Tomorrow's dinner menu...Cranberry-Orange Pork Roast, Oven-Roasted Asapargus and Brown Rice Pilaf...gotta redeem myself!

  1. Love it. My mom made these all the time as kids and makes the mini version as appetizers for guests at parties!
